Apple Recently Unveiled New Software For it’s Products – Here’s What You Need Know
Some big changes are coming to your Apple software. On Monday, Apple unveiled new apps for its iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. It said future Macs including one that will launch later this year will use chips made by Apple instead of Intel.
Apple said the Intel switch would allow the company to deliver better performance on its laptops and desktops. Apple has now released iOS 14, the newest iteration of the iPhone app.
In iOS 14, users can pin widgets with updating information on the home screen, including calendar and maps mini-programs. Previously, users could only include apps on the home screen of an iPhone. iOS 14 also includes a new feature called “App Library” that automatically organizes apps, as well as several new features to the Messages app, including mentions. What else is new in the update?
Here’s what else is new:
- While watching a video, iOS introduces a picture-in-picture feature that allows the user to pop up a small screen that floats on top of other apps. It’s close to what Apple is currently doing on the iPad.
- The update also involves a redesign of the Siri interface. According to Apple, Siri now has 20 times more facts than a few years ago.
- Partner guides, including Zagat, will be included in the Apple Maps app, which adds content about restaurants or attractions to the app. Apple will also include cycling maps in cities such as New York and San Francisco.
- Incoming calls can also be displayed as a banner notification for the first time, Apple said.
- When the device uses an iPhone camera or microphone, Apple has introduced a new prompt to notify the user.
Developers can access the latest iOS this week, and the public beta will be launched in July, said Apple.
