Elon Musk, a potential Martian in the future has recently added a neat $100.3 billion to his total net worth and has dethroned Bill Gates as the world’s second-richest person.

Musk’s total net worth reached $127.9 billion on Monday after an increase of $7.24 billion, Bloomberg Billionaires Index reports. The increase in wealth is largely due to a surge in Tesla’s share price.

Musk was ranked 35th on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index at the start of 2020. It’s a website that ranks the world’s 500 wealthiest people. Elon Musk’s net worth has increased by $100 billion since January, making it by far the highest on the index.

Bill Gates’ total net worth increased by $14.5 billion this year. His net worth is 127.7 billion dollars. Bill Gates has only been ranked lower than second place twice in the index’s eight-year history. He held the top spot until 2017.
